Telecentar

Telecentar is a non-governmental, non-profit organization formed in 2005 as a coordination center for the regional network of civil society organizations from Croatia, Serbia, Macedonia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Telecentar programs and projects include education and production of multimedia content in order to achieve the organizations vision, mission and goals.

Telecentar's vision is creation of a non-profit brand of high-quality lifelong learning programs and multimedia production of educational and promotional content. Telecentar's mission is promotion of lifelong learning as a developmental tool for all the citizens. The main goal is development of competencies needed by all the citizens in order to actively participate in a knowledge society.

The regional Telecentar network is composed of civil society organizations from Zagreb, Slavonski Brod, Belgrade, Novi Sad, Gostivar, Travnik, Sarajevo and Prijedor. The network has developed a lifelong learning program consisted of 32 modules covering English language, computer skills, social skills and entrepreneurship. In the period between 2005 and 2008, over 5,000 students attended the program. The most successful students took the European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) and Cambridge English language test in order to gain international accreditation.

In 2012-2013 Telecentre has participated in the project Media Literacy for the 21st Century, with Graphics Schools of Rijeka and Zagreb. Telecentar has carried-out a study of Media Literacy in Croatia and has coordinated publishing of the first handbooks for photography, audio and video for the vocational education of media technicians. During the project, Telecentar has initiated networking of the media literacy stakeholders in Croatia with international partners from Telecentre-Europe AISBL and Media and Learning Association.
